It's no secret that we'd been a long time with no snow out in the French Alps until last week, although conditions were actually pretty good. It had stayed cold, the snow cannons were working at full blast whenever possible and the piste bashers were doing a great job. However .... things were getting pretty patchy in places and certain slopes were starting to be described as "firm with underlying menace"! We are therefore delighted to announce that winter has officially returned. The picture at the top of this post is from one of the Les Gets webcams earlier today.
We've had decent top ups over the past 8/9 days in both Les Gets and Reberty Village. Timing was spot on as we have now hit the busy French and UK half term holidays. Hitting the peak period without fresh snow was not an appealing prospect.
It was bucketing it down in Reberty Village this morning and more snow is forecast in both resorts for the end of the week. Let's hope the snow drought is finally over and we can look forward to cracking conditions throughout March and heading towards Easter.
