Stranded in the Alps due to UK snow...

This blog post is coming to you from a very pretty and snowy Les Gets, but it shouldn't be! I had been due to fly back into Gatwick this evening but it was not to be. The only real frustration is that I had made it to Geneva Airport before discovering that my flight was cancelled. Grrrr...

Things in the UK are clearly both snowy and chaotic but what's the story in the mountains

Les Gets conditions are very good at the moment, although conditions are "firm" on the lower slopes. This should be tackled by snowfalls due in tonight that'll top levels up by anywhere between 8 and 15 centimetres. Looking ahead to the weekend we could have that perfect combo of sunny days and snowy nights - splendid!

Over in the 3 Valleys there should be what we call in the trade "a serious dump" tonight. There ought to be around 20 to 30 centimetres of snow sitting on the ground by midday tomorrow and sunshine looks set to follow - although it will remain very cold.

Conditions for guests in both of our resorts look exceptional from this weekend onwards - at a time when the crowds have headed home. Just a shame I've managed to get a flight booked for Saturday morning really.
