Snow conditions update

With snow very much in the news at home (2 hours 20 mins to drive the 4 miles home last night ...) it's nice to be able to report great snow where it ought to be - up in the mountains!

Les Gets saw some decent snowfalls in the nick of time 48hrs before Christmas guests arrived. Whilst it is not fully open, over half of the lifts are operating and snow depths are fine for the grass based pistes (35cm lower & 80cm upper). Mont Chery (our favourite bit of the ski area) is not yet open but further snowfalls before New Year week hits should have it up to speed.

Reberty Village (Les Menuires) has seen some pretty grim weather this week - in a good way. Temperatures dropped back to nearly -20 and we saw the diesel in vehicles starting to freeze - all a bit extreme. The cold snap bought snow though. Snow depths are around the same as those seen in Les Gets but a greater proportion of slopes are open (just over 80%). More snow is on the way to help top up and freshen up conditions on the piste.

The "snow off" results are in!

I think we can safely say that Les Gets fared better than Farnborough in the snow stakes - which is exactly as it should be!

Whilst we have seen significant snowfalls in parts of the UK overnight the Alps have seen a welcome top up in the majority of resorts with the snowline sitting at around 200m.

Our two resorts both have more snow on the way. Les Gets should see around 20cm over the next few days and Reberty will have a little more.

Back in the 3 Valleys

This blog comes direct from the dinning room of Chalet Eva in Reberty Village (the picture was taken this morning at breakfast as the sun started to hit the slopes of La Masse).

Our first families arrive in around an hour and the chalet hosts are all ready and waiting. Our first two guests actually arrived last night as we have been joined by some of the Ski Concierge team who are doing a Twitter fueled trip around the 3 Valleys.

Our biggest revalation today has been just how stress free a change over day can be in a resort where you have three chalets within ten meteres of each other around twenty metres from the piste. None of the usual charging around we are used to when trying to get our eight Les Gets chalets set up - Resort Manager Kirsty and I even had time for a coffee in the sun; unheard of!

I'm looking forward to having a glass of bubbly a little later to mark the official opening of our 3 Valleys programme. It took us 18 years to break out of Les Gets but we've done it in the right place at the right time with a fantastic group of people.

Ski Famille hits the 3 Valleys

I've just spent 24 hours tying up some pre-season loose ends at our new chalets in the 3 Valleys and have come away very impressed and keen to return - which is handy as I am back there on Friday.

Our newly refurbished chalets are looking great and fresh snow coupled with bright sunshine (this picture was taken on my visit) made me remember just how stunning the location is. There can't be many more convenient bases for a skiing family.
Our Reberty team are currently taking part in our training course in Les Gets but head south tomorrow and will be up and running in time for their first arrivals on Sunday.
